BORN TO ROCK by Todd taylor $10ppd
Born to Rock is a collection of interviews that Todd Taylor has done during his
tenures at both Flipside and Razorcake. It features in-depth, well researched
interviews with Dillinger Four, Smogtown, Kid Dynamite, Bloodhag, Toys That Kill,
The Thumbs, Strike Anywhere, NOFX, Pennywise, Duane Peters, Rev. Norb, Hot Water
Music, and Tiltwheel. It also includes a few essays by Taylor. Individually, the
essays and interviews are funny, sad, angry, smart, and bizarre. Taken as a whole,
Born to Rock gives a beautifully honest look into the depths of punk rock in its
current incarnation.
Razorcake is here to knock you flat on your butt with quality, in-depth coverage and to probe deep into the heart, mind, and ass of this beast we call music. That, and to have as much fun as fucking possible.

Sean Carswell goes in search of Emma Goldman and ends up at the Emma Goldman
Papers Project in Berkeley. The article that comes out of this search and interview
is an in-depth look at anarchy, the class system in the US, and the real life
of one of America's most important revolutionaries. Interviews with Against Me!,
the Von Steins, The Fuse!, and The Epoxies. Nardwuar takes on Michael Moore. Plus
Jason Pankoke of Micro-Film gives a first hand account of an Indie Press Buyout.
Money goes to Holidays in the Sun in Ireland. Art Fuentes draws Lil' Beez's friend,
The Whiz Kid, whose bladder control problem stops a goth girl's whining. Maddy
Tight Pants gets accused of being sizest and racist by two people who share a
"very emo hug". Ayn Imperato contemplates the world of mail order catalogs. Ben
Weasel "weighs the childish determination to obsess on hostile thoughts" against
the simple pleasure of compromise and tenderness. Sean Carswell tells of when
a poison cloud from an exploded rocket wafted outside his Florida classroom. Designated
Dale gives bowed head remembrances to his father and Dee Dee Ramone. Rich Mackin
contemplates at what point did humans get separated from the natural world. The
Rhythm Chicken gets abducted by fame, fortune, and conjugal visits by the Brewers
full-time mascot, and is dangerously on the brink of becoming The Rally Rabbit.
Gary Hornberger misses Dale's Dad, too, then reviews some comics. Jimmy Alvarado
recounts his early punk years; the close heat of the hair dryer as the liberty
spikes rise from his scalp. Felizon Vidad explains the difference between punk
rock style and hamsters in a cage. Seth Swaaley sits, watches, and cracks open
a beer when the goings-on get weird: cucumber insertions, taped genitals, and
paddlings. Shawn Granton wonders why hipsters deify Pabst. Plus the usual assortment
of record, zine, and book reviews.

Life Sucks Die Issue 8 $5 - Once again, its aaaawwwwnnn. LSDs long, long, long-awaited
(lengthy delays mean that much more quality, people) Issue 8 is jam-packed with
graf goodness. Along with the usual collage spreads we profile MBER and GESO,
two of Americas busiest public space enhancers. On the music front, underground
hip-hop hotshots Cannibal Ox, get grilled as well as LA's BusDriver and Queens
legends, The Beatnuts. Worth purchasing alone for the romance novel cover. Oh
yeah, and we tell you how to grow pot and some things to do after you've smoked
it as well. You cant lose.
LSD Issue 7 $5 - Minneapolis comedy icon Fancy Ray McCloney stars as
Ice-T on the LSD 7 ÒPowerÓ Issue cover. Appropriate for a mag so full of ghetto-fabulousness.
Meantime, interviews with rap geniuses Madlib and The Micranots. Stoner rock
gods High on Fire, as well as a look back at pre-1990 trading cards, guest graf
layouts by Espo and SP-One, and excessive karate. Oh, and a lot of graf- ÒGriff-griff-griffy-
griff- graf graf griff. Griff-graf gaf- gaf gu-gaff gaff..Ó (ThatÕs a rap I
just made up.)
LSD Issue 6 $5 - More graf... graf, graf, lotta graf in this one, boy...
Whoo... Also, the notorious Noreaga interview which will definitely blow your
mind, a history of the AK-47 and the Glock, interviews with hip-hopÕs finest
crate-diggers. Overall, a beautiful-ass magazine to look at.
LSD Issue 5 $5 - Contains 1999Õs 50 Most Beautiful People as excruciatingly
ranked by the LSD staff. Thankfully, our painstaking research paid off in what
some have called a landmark of comedy. Okay, so I called it that. But still...
Also the best interview with MF Doom you will ever read, an interview with the
one and only Kool Keith and graf, graf, graf. God, arenÕt you all sick of graf
yet? I sure am.
LSD Issue 4 $5 - More music and better layout than the previous issues. Interviews
with Company Flow, Invisibl Skratch Piklz and black rock icons Fishbone. Also
contains the Dr.Dre /ÒThe ChronicÓ crossword puzzle and the Diarrhea the Cat
cartoon. Colorful, pretty graf pictures, gross medical photos, etc.
LSD Issue 3 $5 - The infamous Òdead dogÓ cover issue (which was banned
by Fat Beats and several other stores) was the first LSD to be printed for real-style.
ThereÕs a real good article where Saber talks about doing his big-ass LA river
piece. ThereÕs also pictures of human crap sitting in toilets, tons of graf
and the now-infamous ÒTales from the CripÓ feature
comics
Quincy punx comic book! $2 this is the same comic that came with the nutso smasho vinyl LP,but you,the smart ass consumer, can purchase it seperately!yee?
